The League of Arab States has condemned in the strongest terms the continued attacks by the Houthi militia against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, most recently the two attacks targeting Abha International Airport and King Khalid International Airport, which resulted in the death and injury of a number of citizens and residents, as well as damage to the two airports.

Mr. Nabil Fahmy, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, held a telephone conversation on 8 October with His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The two sides discussed the latest regional developments and the escalating tensions and growing instability across the region.

H. E. Mr. Nabil Fahmy, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, received on 7 October Mr. Jibril Rajoub, Secretary of the Central Committee of Fatah, and Dr. Mohammad Shtayyeh, member of the Central Committee of Fatah and former Prime Minister, at the headquarters of the General Secretariat.

H. E. Mr. Nabil Fahmy, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, said in press statements addressing the outcomes of his participation in the meetings of the United Nations General Assembly in New York that the Sudan crisis featured prominently in the meetings and consultations he had held on the sidelines of the General Assembly, including his discussions with heads of state, senior officials and foreign ministers of a number of international and regional powers.

The League of Arab States condemns in the strongest terms the Israeli occupation authorities' demolition on 6 October of a Palestinian residential building comprising 10 apartments in the Al-Tur neighbourhood of occupied East Jerusalem, and the displacement of the Palestinian families who had been living there, with the participation of the occupation government's Minister of National Security.

The League of Arab States has condemned in the strongest terms the continued attacks by the Houthi militia against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as well as the recent dangerous escalation, including attacks targeting cities and civilian facilities, most recently the two attacks targeting facilities at King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Jazan and Najran International Airport.

H. E. Mr. Nabil Fahmy, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, participated in the launch of the 14th Arab Report on Cultural Development, published by the Arab Thought Foundation under the title “Arab Food and Water Security: Accumulating Crises and Promising Initiatives”. The event was hosted by the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States at its headquarters in Cairo on 5 October, with the participation of Dr. Henry Al-Awit, Director-General of the Arab Thought Foundation, alongside a distinguished group of experts, researchers and specialists.

H. E. Mr. Nabil Fahmy, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, condemned in the strongest terms Israel’s blatant and continued violations against the Syrian State’s borders, including the completion of work on what is known as the “Sufa 53 Line”, in a flagrant violation of the sovereignty of the Syrian Arab Republic and a blatant breach of international law and the 1974 Disengagement Agreement

The League of Arab States welcomes the call by US Congressman Ro Khanna for the release of Palestinian prisoner Marwan Barghouti, viewing it as consistent with the longstanding Arab position on the issue of prisoners as a central concern of joint Arab action.

The League of Arab States condemned the attack targeting the Taiba power distribution station in Medina, stressing that targeting a vital civilian facility in a city of profound religious significance to Muslims worldwide, and one associated with the provision of services to one of Islam’s holiest sites, constitutes an unacceptable violation and an intolerable disregard for the sanctity of holy places and the safety of civilian infrastructure.

The General Secretariat of the League of Arab States condemns in the strongest terms the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque by more than 1,300 Israeli settlers on the fifth day of the Jewish holiday of Sukkot, as part of the ongoing escalation in occupied Jerusalem. The incursions have been accompanied by the public performance of religious rituals and prayers inside the Mosque’s courtyards under the protection of the Israeli occupation police, alongside restrictions imposed on Palestinian worshippers and obstruction of their access to the Mosque.

His Excellency Mr. Nabil Fahmy, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, received Hans Grundberg, UN Special Envoy for Yemen, on 29 September. The meeting reviewed the latest developments in the Republic of Yemen and the challenges they pose to efforts to de-escalate tensions and revive the political process.
