Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, welcomed the agreement between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran on a two-week ceasefire, affirming that it constitutes an important step in the right direction that must be upheld and not squandered, in order to de-escalate tensions and prevent the region from sliding into catastrophic scenarios.

Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, warned that "the situation could slide the region into unprecedented trajectories,” stressing that “hardened positions could lead to catastrophic scenarios from which no party would be immune.”

Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, strongly condemned the continuation of Iranian aggression targeting vital civilian facilities in the State of Kuwait, foremost among them two electricity generation and water desalination plants, which resulted in significant material damage. He also denounced the attacks on the Ministries Complex, the oil sector complex in the Shuwaikh area, and facilities affiliated to the Kuwait National Petroleum Company and the Petrochemical Industries Company.

The League of Arab States (Palestine and Occupied Arab Territories Sector) issued a statement strongly condemning the Israeli Knesset's approval, on 30 March, of a law permitting the execution of Palestinian prisoners. It calls upon the international community, the United Nations, the Security Council, and the International Criminal Court to take immediate and decisive action to annul this unlawful legislation, hold the leaders of the occupation accountable for their crimes, and ensure international protection for Palestinian prisoners.
